For some reason, only Alaska Airlines planes are seen at airports in Alaska. These are civilian aircraft. Alaska has a busy military airport and from a distance you can faintly see all kinds of military aircraft taking off and landing over the airport.

Alaska Airlines is the fifth largest airline in North America and is based in Seattle, Washington. In 2024, Alaska Airlines, along with its regional partners Horizon Air and SkyWest Airlines, will offer scheduled passenger service to cities along the West Coast of the United States, including more than 100 destinations in Alaska and Hawaii, as well as to the continental United States, the Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico.

Alaska is a long way from the US mainland. It takes nine and a half hours to fly from New York to Alaska.
